A Goodie from 1972 That Almost Didn't Make it to the Album...

Happy Monday cats and kittens!

Quite a few tweaks have been made to the Ocho-rific

Song o the Day over the weekend and more are underway.  I've been doodling on a new "page topper" .. I think the people who are properly trained call it a "page header".. but I like to call it a "page topper".  Anywho,  I did this doodle yesterday afternoon at my kitchen table over a cuppa java and a few ciggies ...

11/04/2010 - A Great Vintage T.V. Theme Song!

I had a friend ask me last night what the Ocho-rific Song o the Day was going to be today.

I hadn't selected it yet and told him that .. and he inquired about how I choose the songs and where I have them all, if there's some magical sheet that I look at.

10/30/2010 - Halloween - 1978 - the Soundtrack

Let me preface this by saying that if you were to ask my favorite horror flick of all time, my answer would unequivocally, hands down be Halloween.   I don't identify that with any "numbers" or such because it shouldn't need them ... but I am referring to the 1978 Halloween.

10/29/2010 * Genesis * 1986 * Land of Confusion

Good morning, Happy Friday and Happy Halloween Weekend!!

You can look for a very nice run of consistency with the blog over the next few days as I have been writing ahead a bit for Halloween at the recommendation of a friend.

10/24/2010 - New York Groove - Ace Frehley

Last Saturday I spent some time in my laundry room, which consists of a 3'x6' closet, fluffing and folding ... one of my least favorite things to do.  I absolutely detest laundry with every ounce of my being.  I also detest KISS.

10/23/10 - Tarzan Boy Feedback and TODAY'S Ocho-rific Song o the Day!

I visited a friend on Wednesday night who hadn't yet seen Wednesday's blog.  This particular friend is not a big fan of "new music" ... and by "new music"; I mean anything released by anyone who was not recording music in the 70s. :)

10/19/2010 - Right Down the Line - Gerry Rafferty

____________________________________

Good morning and Happy Tuesday!

Nearly two months ago, I officially kicked off the Ocho-rific Song o the Day with a little Gerry Rafferty tune called Baker Street.  Just a few days before I'd seen the video on a friends Facebook profile. I've always loved that song and googled to see what the details were on it.

As I googled to get the background, it occurred to me that I know at least 20 other people who like to hear the background stories of songs and bands and whatnot ... that's when the Ocho-rific Song o the Day was born.

10/17/2010 - Eye in the Sky - Alan Parsons Project

Good morning and Happy Sunday!!

Some people will tell you that this Alan Parsons Project fave is about spy satellites.  If you're interested in reading some of the theories and whatnot, come back and check out the Songmeanings link (below the video) ... after you've finished reading the blog of course  ... and sharing it with everyone you know ... :)

10/15/2010 - Eastbound and Down - Jerry Reed - 1977

Good morning ... and again, sorry for the hiatus.
As I've said before, sometimes life gets in the way.    I'd like nothing more (well, not maybe NOTHING more), but I would really like for this to be a daily event ... but when the day is full and something has to go; this is one of the first things to get tossed.

09/29/2010 - ::Extra Goodies:: - Everyman's Journey

::Extra Goodies::

Anyone who knows me in real life knows that I am a big, big, big fan of Journey.  I am very touchy about the fact that I've never seen Journey with Steve Perry and never will.  Though I love Steve Perry dearly, I'm pretty frustrated with him for rattling our chains in the mid 90s, only to require a hip replacement and never return.

Here I Am .... Where We Are with Six Degrees and Whatnot....

Happy Wednesday and Sorry for the Delay! :)
When we left off with 6 Degrees of Separation ... we were with Joe Cocker and Feelin' Alright.  In that blog you'll also find a version of Feelin' Alright by the Black Crows.

09/16/2010 - Feelin' Alright

 As with many of you, my work week kicks off on Monday and this week I'm preparing for a Harvest Moon Celebration to be held next week. It hasn't been my intention to miss three days of posting a song ... it just happened.  This week has entirely flown away from me and I can't believe it's already Friday Eve!!!!!

09/13/2010 An Ocho-rific Cover - Mr. Blue Sky - Lily Allen

As mentioned in this morning's blog, Lily Allen covered ELO's Mr. Blue Sky.

I was completely unfamiliar with Lily Allen until one evening in the past year when a dear friend and I were spending an evening in our lounge clothes with laptops on the kitchen table chatting music.  She pulled up a song called Smile by Lily Allen.

Happy Saturday!!

Whilst some of you Cats and Kittens spent your evenings out and about in your cities enjoying cocktails and crowded watering holes; I was settled into my couch and absolutely delighted to be there...with Chinese leftovers and a bounty of DVR goodness =) perusing the "interweb" and looking at visitor stats for the Ocho-rific Song o the Day.
