10/17/2010 - Eye in the Sky - Alan Parsons Project

Good morning and Happy Sunday!!

Some people will tell you that this Alan Parsons Project fave is about spy satellites.  If you're interested in reading some of the theories and whatnot, come back and check out the Songmeanings link (below the video) ... after you've finished reading the blog of course  ... and sharing it with everyone you know ... :)

I've always felt it's about a relationship in which one has cheated ... the other has decided that they will no longer accept flimsy apologies and allow things to be 'explained away'.
today's
Ocho-rific
Song o the Day...

::from SongMeanings::
Don't think sorry's easily said
Don't try turning tables instead
You've taken lots of chances before
But I ain't gonna give anymore
Don't ask me
That's how it goes
'Cause part of me knows what you're thinkin'

Don't say words you're gonna regret
Don't let the fire rush to your head
I've heard the accusation before
And I ain't gonna take any more
Believe me
The sun in your eyes
Made some of the lies worth believing

Chorus:
I am the eye in the sky
Looking at you
I can read your mind
I am the maker of rules
Dealing with fools
I can cheat you blind
And I don't need to see anymore
To know that
I can read your mind,
(Looking at you)
I can read your mind
(Looking at you)
I can read your mind
(Looking at you)
I can read your mind

Don't leave false illusions behind
Don't cry I ain't changing my mind
So find another fool like before
'Cause I ain't gonna live anymore believing
Some of the lies while all of the signs are deceiving

I am the eye in the sky
Looking at you
I can read your mind
I am the maker of rules
Dealing with fools
I can cheat you blind
And I don't need to see anymore
To know that
I can read your mind,
(Looking at you)
I can read your mind
(Looking at you)
I can read your mind
(Looking at you)
I can read your mind

I am the eye in the sky
Looking at you
I can read your mind
I am the maker of rules
Dealing with fools
I can cheat you blind
And I don't need to see anymore
To know that
I can read your mind,
(Looking at you)
I can read your mind
(Looking at you)
I can read your mind
(Looking at you)
I can read your mind

**A note from me::
If the WIKI is correct, you're about to find out that I was wrong
... please remain calm.**  ;)
::WIKI "FACTS"::
*"Eye in the Sky" is a 1982 song by the Alan Parsons Project from the album Eye in the Sky. Possibly the most successful song the group has ever had, it reached number three on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. However, it did not fare as well in the UK.
*The song is in part a reference to George Orwell's classic novel Nineteen Eighty-Four, regarding a possible future in which individual privacy is virtually non-existent due to the ever-watching eye of Big Brother. In the novel, citizens are constantly monitored by hidden video recording equipment.[1][2]
*It has also been noted by Eric Woolfson, the songwriter and vocalist of this song, spent a lot of time in casinos and in commercial districts, fascinated by the hidden security cameras that monitor gamblers and shoppers, hence the theme of the song. See "Eye in the Sky."[2]

So it WAS inspired by spy satellites and Big Brother ...  I had those lyrics taped to the inside of my closet door for two months in 2007 and it wasn't to remind me to stay away from spy satellites. :)
