August 26th, 2010 - If You Leave - OMD

Well I certainly know where I was at this moment twelve years ago today.

I was sitting on a balcony in Ocho Rios, Jamaica having a ciggie and a cuppa java on what was ...
my wedding day.  Wow!  That seems like an absolute lifetime ago.

I imagine everyone who marries does so with the intention of staying married.
If you can, that's fabulous, but the odds are not great.

And, now that I've rained on your parade and wee-weed in your Cheerios ...
Let me toss in a bonus with today's Ocho-rific Song o the Day
... it's a relationship advice freebie ...

You're welcome!! :)

Relationship Advice Freebie
"I don't think people take marriage seriously anymore ... Six months of groovy giggles and grand sex does not a marriage make, that doesn't mean two people can't have a long and wonderful relationship; it just means slow down and let the tingles wear down a bit and see what and WHO you've got." -Kim Jackson

Anywho, in honor of this day; I'm going to share a song with you that was very important to me during the period of my life that bookmarks the exit of that relationship. There's a portion of it italicized, if you're trying to break up from something you should print that out and tape it to your bathroom mirror :) ...then take two aspirin and text me in the morning.

If You Leave
OMD
1986

If you leave, don't leave now
Please don't take my heart away
Promise me just one more night
Then we'll go our separate ways

We've always had time on our sides
Now it's fading fast
Every second every moment
We've got to--we've gotta make it last

I touch you once I touch you twice
I won't let go at any price
I need you now like I needed you then
You always said we'd still be friends someday

If you leave I won't cry
I won't waste one single day
But if you leave don't look back
I'll have run the other way

Seven years went under the bridge
Like time standing still
Heaven knows what happens now
You've got to--you've gotta say you will

I touch you once I touch you twice
I won't let go at any price
I need you now like I needed you then
You always said we'd meet again

I touch you once I touch you twice
I won't let go at any price
I need you now like I needed you then
You always said we'd still be friends

I touch you once I touch you twice
I won't let go at any price
I need you now like I needed you then
You always said we'd meet again someday

If you leave
Oh if you leave
Oh if you leave
Don't look back
Don't look back

Bravo for the soundtracks of John Hughes' films!!

I couldn't find any song facts on this one and I'm running a little too late this morning to go on a hunt, but what a great song ... the lyrics of which hold a clue for tomorrow's Ocho-rific Song o the Day!!

Until then ...
Have a grand and groovy day!
