It Takes It's Name from a Church Hymn & Reached #16 on the Pop Singles Chart in 1983~

Happy Sunday Folks!!  We're back on track in the world of Ocho-rific!

I had to take a bit of a hiatus to work out some kinks on a few projects while I was off from the "day job" for a few days in a row.  That also gave me a great opportunity to work on things with the Ocho-rific Song o the Day and I can tell you that we have some very groovy and mind boggling things coming up!!

Of today's Ocho-rific Song o the Day I say this .... if you sneak into your child's room one night and catch them listening to

Justin Beiber, you should tie them down and make them watch the concert video below about 8 times in a row ... which will take almost an hour and a half ... so it'll give you some time to do some things too :)

Seriously though .. what a great concert video this is!  I've never seen Def Leppard live, but they have certainly moved up my "Concert Bucket List" after watching some of their concert footage over the last few days.

There'll be an ::Extra Goodie:: on
Def Leppard later ....
But for now ...
today's
Ocho-rific
Song o the Day...
Rock of Ages - Def Leppard - 1983
::from SongMeanings.net::
Gunter glieben glauchen globen
All right
I got something to say
Yeah, it's better to burn out
Yeah, than fade away
All right
Ow Gonna start a fire
C'mon!
Rise up! gather round
Rock this place to the ground
Burn it up let's go for broke
Watch the night go up in smoke

Rock on! Rock on!

Drive me crazier, no serenade
No fire brigade, just Pyromania

What do you want? What do you want?
I want rock'n'roll, yes I do
Long live rock'n'roll

Oh let's go, let's strike a light
We're gonna blow like dynamite
I don't care if it takes all night
Gonna set this town alight

What do you want? What do you want?
I want rock'n'roll, Allright!
Long live rock'n'roll

Rock of ages, rock of ages
Still rollin', keep a-rollin'
Rock of ages, rock of ages
Still rollin', rock'n'rollin'

We got the power, got the glory
Just say you need it and if you need it
Say yeah!

Heh heh heh heh
Now listen to me
I'm Burnin', Burnin', I got the fever
I know for sure, there ain't no cure
So feel it, don't fight it, go with the flow
Gimme, gimme, gimme, gimme one more for the road

What do you want? What do you want?
I want rock'n'roll, You betcha
Long live rock'n'roll

Repeat Chorus

We're gonna burn this damn place down
Down to the ground

Heh heh heh heh heh heh heh heh heh heh heh heh
::WIKI "FACTS"::

"Rock of Ages" is a song by Def Leppard from their 1983 album Pyromania. It takes its name from the hymn Rock of Ages. When released as a single, the song reached #1 on the Top Tracks chart and #16 on the Pop Singles chart.[1]

It begins with a German-like nonsense phrase, "Gunter glieben glauchen globen", which was later sampled in "Pretty Fly (for a White Guy)" by The Offspring as well as "Call Me What You Like (If You Like Rock-N-Roll)" by Puffy AmiYumi. This was also sampled in a parody of the song, "Rape Rock of Ages," by self-proclaimed "rape rock" band The Mentors.[1] According to the official Def Leppard FAQ,
These four words that you hear at the start of "Rock of Ages", mean nothing in particular though, the band sometimes jokingly claims it means "running through the forest silently". It's gibberish, said by producer Mutt Lange during the recordings of the song, instead of the regular one, two, three, four.[citation needed]
According to the liner notes of the compilation release Rock of Ages: The Definitive Collection, the band was at a recording studio when lead vocalist Joe Elliott stumbled upon a hymn book left by a member of a children's choir that had just used the studio. In the book, he saw the words "Rock of Ages," which prompted him to write the lyrics of the song.
This song, along with a modified "Pour Some Sugar on Me" and "Photograph", are in the 2007 film Balls of Fury.
In the film Highlander, the opening lyrics -- "I got something to say, it's better to burn out than fade away" -- are recited by the Kurgan (Clancy Brown) following a verbal confrontation with Connor MacLeod (Christopher Lambert).
In the last episode of the 5th season of the TV series Supernatural, Dean Winchester plays this song in his car before entering the cemetery where the fight between Michael and Lucifer is about to go down.
The song is also featured in the video game Brütal Legend and the downloadable "Def Leppard Pack" for the game Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock.

::Extra Goodies::

::from SongFacts.com::
There is an "Ages Of Rock" computer program that details important dates in Def Leppard history.

The music video was directed by David Mallet[2] and shot on 8 December 1982 (Guitarist Phil Collen's 25th birthday), in Battersea, London, England.

Former Def Leppard co-manager Peter Mensch appears in this video as one of the monks.
This song references Neil Young in the opening lines: "I've got something to say / It's better to burn out / Than fade away!" This is part of the refrain of Young's "My My, Hey Hey," released in 1979 on Rust Never Sleeps. (thanks, Ekristheh - Halath)

The band had the music written for this, but were having trouble coming up with lyrics. One night, there was a bible study group in the studio and the next day, lead singer Joe Elliott found a bible open the hymn "Rock Of Ages." He started singing the phrase and Lange thought it would be perfect for the chorus. They used it as the title and wrote the rest of the lyrics from there.

There are no guitars on the verses, but they come in strong in the chorus.
Until next time...
Have a Grand and Groovy Day!!
