::WIKI "FACTS"::

*George Harrison,[1] MBE (25 February 1943 – 29 November 2001)[2] was an English rock guitarist, singer-songwriter and film producer who achieved international fame as lead guitarist of The Beatles.[3][4] Often referred to as "the quiet Beatle",[3] Harrison embraced Indian mysticism, and helped broaden the horizons of the other Beatles, as well as those of their Western audience.[5] Following the band's break-up, he had a successful career as a solo artist and later as part of the Traveling Wilburys, and also as a film and record producer. Harrison is listed at number 21 in Rolling Stone magazine's list of "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time".[6]
*Although most of the Beatles' songs were written by Lennon and McCartney, Harrison generally wrote one song per side from the Help! album onwards.[7]

09/11/201 - ::Extra Goodies:: - A Taste o the Wilburys ... A La Carte ... Roy Orbison

::Extra Goodies::First up ....
Roy Orbison

::WIKI "FACTS"::

*Roy Kelton Orbison (April 23, 1936 – December 6, 1988) was an American singer-songwriter and musician, well known for his distinctive, powerful voice, complex compositions, and dark emotional ballads.

*Orbison grew up in Texas and began singing in a rockabilly / country & western band in high school until he was signed by Sun Records in Memphis.

*In 1988, he joined the super-group The Traveling Wilburys with George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, and Jeff Lynne and also released a new solo album. He died of a heart attack in December that year, at the zenith of his resurgence. His life was marred with tragedy, including the death of his first wife and two of his children in separate accidents.

*Orbison was initiated into the second class of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987 by longtime admirer Bruce Springsteen. The same year he was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame. More recently in 2007 he was inducted into the Hit Parade Hall of Fame. Rolling Stone listed Orbison as No. 37 in their list of The Greatest Artists of All Time. In 2002, Billboard magazine listed Orbison at No. 74 in the Top 600 recording artists.[4] Rolling Stone rated Orbison at No. 13 in their list of The 100 Greatest Singers of All Time in 2008.[5]

::from ArtistFacts.com::

*He was a huge influence on many artists, including John Lennon, Mick Jagger, and Tom Petty.

*Roy died of heart failure at his mother's house in Hendersonville, TN on December 6th, 1988. He was visiting family for the holidays while on break from the road.

*Many people assumed Roy was going blind, but he was anything but. His trademark dark glasses he began wearing in 1963, just before a British tour with The Beatles. (thanks, Russtti - London, England, England)

*His wife was killed in a motorcycle accident in 1966. Two years later, 2 of his sons died in a fire.

*Roy Orbison was a keen painter and made model aircraft to competition level. One of the last things he did on the day he died was fly his model airplanes. (thanks, Marc - Liverpool, England)
