Last Saturday I spent some time in my laundry room, which consists of a 3'x6' closet, fluffing and folding ... one of my least favorite things to do. I absolutely detest laundry with every ounce of my being. I also detest KISS.
Now, I shouldn't say I detest them. KISS is made up of people and I don't detest any people ... I should
say rather that I detest their music (in most cases), I detest their commercialism (a comic book whose first run had their blood in the ink), movies with cheesy effects (even for the day) and what I'm sure is an absolutely remarkable live show. That's right ... make no mistake, I'm sure that KISS probably puts on a very impressive and extremely entertaining show; but to listen to their music for 60-90 minutes would absolutely damage me for life.
What's all of this got to do with the price of rice in China? .... well, I was fluffing and folding and per usual-the radio was on in the bathroom at the end of the hall. I say that as if it's a big sprawling hall like the one in The Shining, the bathroom is really only about 42 inches away from the laundry room...anywho, I digress.
I heard a song I LOVE LOVE LOVE ... I'd tried to recall enough of the song to google it a time or two, but never could recall enough of it at the right time to come up with anything.
I grabbed my phone and tried to remember the name of the APP that listens to the song and tells what it is .... "bloodhound...no...houndstooth...no...SOUNDHOUND!" But bad news, I hadn't subscribed to SoundHound and I had used up all of the trial credits.
I remembered that my super smart friend who works for Verizon told me that Verizon has a similar app ... I searched my phone and luckily...although I don't believe in luck, it was there. I clicked the button, ran all 42" to the bathroom and thrust my phone towards the speaker.
I gasped in horror at the name of the artist ....

::from AllTheLyrics.com::
Many years since I was here, on the street I was passin' my time away
To the left and to the right, buildings towering to the sky
It's outta sight in the dead of night
Here I am, and in this city, with a fistful of dollars
And baby, you'd better believe
Chorus:
I'm back, back in the New York Groove
I'm back, back in the New York Groove
I'm back, back in the New York Groove
Back in the New York Groove, in the New York Groove
In the back of my Cadillac
A wicked lady, sittin' by my side, sayin' 'Where are we?'
Stop at Third and Forty-three, exit to the night
It's gonna be ecstasy, this place was meant for me
Feels so good tonight, who cares about tomorrow
So baby, you'd better believe
chorus

::WIKI "FACTS"::
Written by Russ Ballard and first recorded by Hello in 1975 and later by Ace Frehley in 1978.
The British glam rock band Hello first recorded the song in 1975, for their debut album, Keeps Us Off The Streets.
Ace Frehley recorded the song for his solo album released in 1978.
Released as a single, this song made it to No.13 on the American Billboard Hot 100 that year, by far the highest charting single from any of the Kiss members' solo albums. "New York Groove" was performed on Kiss's tours of 1979 and 1980, and became a staple of Frehley's shows during his solo tours in the 1980s and 90s, and again during the Reunion Tour when he rejoined Kiss in 1996.
Ace Frehley once told Rolling Stone magazine that his unique take on the song was inspired by his experience with hookers in New York City's pre-Rudy Giuliani Times Square.
