::Yesterday, on the Ocho-rific Song o the Day::
.......................**insert "flashback waviness" here**......................
Bravo for the soundtracks of John Hughes' films!!
I couldn't find any song facts on this one and I'm running a little too late this morning
to go on a hunt, but what a great song ...
the lyrics of which hold a clue for tomorrow's
Ocho-rific Song o the Day!!

Well I have to say, I'm absolutely appalled that as of press time; no one has even attempted to guess at today's Ocho-rific Song o the Day!! However, I will live ... :)
I have no large life discombobulations to refer to today,
just a grand and groovy up-beat hit!
HOWEVAH you might be interested in a little "On this Day" before we begin:

Song o the Day::Don't Look Back
Boston
1978
Don't look back
A new day's breakin'
It's been too long since I felt this way
I don't mind where I get taken
The road is callin'
Today is the day
I can see
It took so long to realize
I'm much too strong
Now to compromise
Now I see what I am is holding me down
I'll turn it around
I finally see the dawn arrivin'
I see beyond the road I'm drivin'
Far away and left behind
It's a new horizon and I'm awakin' now
Oh I see myself in a brand new way
The sun is shinin'
the clouds are breakin'
'Canse I can't lose now, there's no game to play
I can tell
There's no more time left to criticize
I've seen what I could not recognize
Everything in my life was leading me on
but I can be strong
I finally see the dawn arrivin'
I see beyond the road I'm drivin'
Far away and left behind
A new day's breakin'
It's been too long since I felt this way
I don't mind where I get taken
The road is callin'
Today is the day

This is the title track and first song on Boston's second album. Their debut album is one of the best selling of all time, so there were great expectations for this one. The song is about looking ahead and making the most of your time on Earth.
The distorted guitar sound was created by devices designed by group leader Tom Scholz. He has an engineering degree from M.I.T.

::WIKI "Facts"::
- The title track is one of the band's biggest hits, reaching #4 in 1978 on the Billboard Hot 100. The album sold over 4 million copies in the first month of its release, and has been certified 7x Platinum by the RIAA in the U.S.
- Tom Scholz has been on record stating that executives at Epic pushed him and the band into releasing the album before they felt it was ready. He said of Don't Look Back that "it was ridiculously short. It needed another song."
- The cover art for this album inspired the box art on the Atari 2600 release of the video game Space Invaders
- The song was performed by the remaining original members of Boston on August 19, 2007 at the Bank of America Pavilion in Boston, Mass. for the tribute concert to Brad Delp. It was the last song of the concert.
- The song was used in the pilot episode of the ABC drama series October Road,
which aired on March 15 2007, around a week after the death of Brad Delp.

::Extra Goodies ... Just Because it's Boston::
"There aren't many rock stars whose band's debut album sells nearly 20 million copies thanks to eight tracks that continue to get played on rock radio more than 30 years later. And there are even fewer who are so anonymous they could slip by most people unnoticed at the mall or even at one of their own concerts. "
- an excerpt from an article by Gil Kaufman

Unlike other lead singers of arena rock bands from the 1970s and 1980s, Delp was a teetotaler, a vegetarian and a non-drug user. The soft-spoken and humble man was often called the "nicest guy in rock 'n' roll."

"In any case, Don't Look Back turned out to be - by any fair standard -
well worth the wait. If some folks at the time were ever so slightly disappointed,
it may have been simply because it turns out that you really can't lose your virginity twice."
from Don't Look Back - 1978 Look Back in Grandeur by David Wild
